MM2H is open to citizens of all countries recognised by Malaysia and the

Malaysian Government, irrespective of age, gender, race or religion.

This programme allows applicants to bring with them their spouses, parents

above the age of 60 and unmarried children under the age of 21 years as

dependants. Foreign spouses of Malaysians and expatriates who wish to retire

in Malaysia after expiry of their Employment Passes are also eligible to apply

to stay in Malaysia on this programme.

GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE

The MM2H programme is initiated and launched by the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia in collaboration with the Department of Immigration, Malaysia and is thus one programme that the Malaysian Government will continuously seek to improve to ensure its success. This programme is in line with the Government’s policy of encouraging foreign direct investments into Malaysia and creating a pro-business environment in its policies.

LANGUAGE & CULTURE

The Malay language (Bahasa Melayu) is the national language of the country but English being the second language is widely spoken and used. Similarly Malay, Chinese and Indian culture is dominant in the country. But other religion and cultures can be practiced freely and there is a free intermingling of different cultures. Freedom of worship is enshrined in the Federal Constitution and the different races have lived peacefully for generations and that is what makes Malaysia unique.

SAFETY

Statistics have proven that Malaysia is one of the safest countries in the world; with many housing estates and condominiums having very tight security round the clock to ensure the safety of its residences. As such, crime rate is relatively low in Malaysia.

STANDARD OF LIVING

Malaysia has one of the highest standards of living in the region with all the modern infrastructure and facilities in place. Public transport by buses, taxis and trains are comfortable, efficient and very affordable.
